Details
Description
From the top station of the chairlift, the trail leads westwards below the Prui mountain restaurant. The first 150 meters of ascent are tackled through a sparse forest.
The trail then climbs gently up to Alp Laret, with the mighty Lower Engadin Dolomites in view. Alp Laret, with its panoramic views, is only farmed during summer grazing periods. The descent into Val Tasna begins just behind Alp Laret. You can soon see the roofs of the Valmala Alp on the other side of the valley.
Before crossing the Tasnan, a detour to Alp Urezzas is recommended, especially for those interested in history. At Plan d'Agl, you finally cross the Tasnan and are now on Ardez soil. In a north-westerly direction, the Val d'Urschai leads to the Futschölpass, the border crossing into the neighboring Montafon.
At the entrance to this valley, where the large boulders can be seen, there are sites that prove that this crossing was used by hunters over 10,000 years ago. Further on towards Alp Urezzas near Plan d'Agl, if you look closely you can still make out the outline of an old cattle pen that stood there over 2,500 years ago. The Urezzas alpine hut is somewhat more recent, having been built in 1832 and continuously extended over the past century. The trail leads steadily down the valley past the Valmala alp. In the summer months, you can buy goat's cheese or a small refreshment here.
The trail continues along the Tasnan, whose water is now also used to produce electricity, on a leisurely descent to Ardez.
