Young Keria, a girl who doesn't mince her words, lives with her father on the island of Borneo on the edge of the vast rainforest. One day, she watches as a mother orangutan is killed in front of her eyes. Keria saves her baby and names it Oshi. While she looks after the little ape, her cousin Selaï seeks refuge with them from the dispute between his family and the timber companies that want to destroy the jungle. Received with little enthusiasm by his cousin, Selaï is mocked at school and called a "savage". He decides to run away, dragging Oshi and Keria with him. In the jungle, where Keria gradually finds her roots, the trio have to deal with those who cut down the trees...
