Concert in the church of Sent | NOT "JUST" ROMANCE!

The Segantini Trio creates a romantic programme full of contrasts and the joy of making music. Works by Paul Juon, Luise Adolpha LeBeau, Astor Piazzolla and Jürg Hanselmann.

In addition to works by the tango composer Astor Piazzolla, works by the late Romantic composer Paul Juon from Graubünden will be performed. A special treat are the pieces for violoncello and piano by Luise Adolpha LeBeau, with which she was the only female participant in a composition competition in 1882 to win a prize. The pianist of the Trio Segantini, Jürg Hanselmann, also contributes a piece. He has just completed his 3rd Piano Trio and would like to present it to the audience as a premiere in Sent.

Franco Mettler, clarinet
The musician Franco Mettler, who comes from Toggenburg and lives and works in Chur, studied at the Zurich University of Music, where he completed his studies with a concert diploma for clarinet. Franco Mettler continued his studies at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam with a focus on bass clarinet and contemporary music. He also continued his education at the St. Gallen Jazz School.

Katharina Weissenbacher, Violoncello
The Austrian cellist completed her artistic and pedagogical training at the music academies of Cologne, Ljubljana, Würzburg and Zurich. She also completed her doctorate in jazz research at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz with a research focus on "Jazz in the GDR". Katharina Weissenbacher teaches at the Sargans Cantonal School and at the Freienbach Music School. She also performs as a soloist and is active in several chamber music formations.

Jürg Hanselmann, piano
The Liechtenstein-Swiss pianist and composer obtained the soloist's diploma for piano "with distinction" at the Bern Conservatory. Further stations of his training were Louis Kentner (London) and Irina Edelstein (Frankfurt/M.), master classes with the Beaux Arts Trio and with Mieczyslaw Horszowski. He subsequently studied composition and counterpoint with Sándor Veress.
