Details

Description

Directly into the alpine mountain experience. The mountain railway takes you from the high altitude of Samnaun (1,846 metres above sea level) to the Silvretta mountains. The transition to the Lower Engadine is demanding and challenging, but offers a marvellous mountain feeling right from the start. The Val Sinestra, formerly ‘Landscape of the Year’, is secluded and offers unspoilt nature to enjoy. Several suspension bridges provide a varied running experience. The historic Kurhaus Val Sinestra is an architectural eye-catcher and invites you to stop for refreshments before travelling to Sent or Scuol by post bus or on foot.

Directions

Viderjoch - Zeblasjoch - Fuorcla Val Gronda - Fimberpass - Griosch - Zuort - suspension bridges - Val Sinestra

The tour starts on the Viderjoch, which we reach from Samnaun Ravaisch with a cable car ride and two chairlift rides. We still enjoy the mountain panorama without exertion. From the Viderjoch, we head over the stony border ridge via the highest point, the Greitspitz at 2870 metres, to the Salaaser Kopf. The panoramic view of the Paznaun and Samnaun valleys is magnificent. At Salaaser Kopf, you leave the border ridge in the direction of Bergli with its impressive gypsum dolines. A beautiful path leads almost flat above the Zeblas meadows.

Now we follow the alpine road for a short stretch in the direction of Zeblasjoch. Shortly after the Zeblasjoch, we take the path on the left through the impressive Val Gronda to Fuorcla Val Gronda. We continue slightly downhill towards the Heidelberger Hütte. Before we reach the hut, the path branches off to the left and climbs for about 2 kilometres to the Fimberpass, the last pass of the day. From here we enjoy the initially steep and then flatter downhill into Val Chöglia. From point 2009, the path becomes an alpine road, which we follow to Griosch. Here we take the path along the river towards Zuort, a historic hamlet. Shortly before Zuort you have a beautiful view of the earth pyramids. From here, we follow the forest road towards Vnà until we reach the signpost pointing right towards Hängebrücken/Val Sinestra. On a beautiful forest path, we more or less follow the course of the stream downhill and cross the two suspension bridges. Below the imposing Hotel Val Sinestra, we cross the Brancla for the last time and reach our destination. From the Hotel Val Sinestra we take the postbus to Sent. If you still have energy left, you can continue on the forest road to Sent (6km).
