Description

The Scuol mountain railways take you up to 2142 metres above sea level in comfort. In summer and winter you can travel conveniently by cable car to the mountain and winter sports area of Scuol, Motta Naluns. You will feel as if the entire Lower Engadine were at your feet. You continue up to Chamanna da Naluns and Alp Clünas. There the panorama trail leads eastwards into the Ötztal Alps. A detour to Muot da L'Hom is an alternative. A rest on Alp Laret should be planned in any case. In Ftan you can either take the PostBus or the panorama trail back to Scuol.

Directions

The mountain railway takes you to the Motta Naluns mountain station. We hike up towards Chamana da Naluns on the right. Pass under the lift, then the path climbs quite a bit. At the next signpost, turn left uphill towards Alp Clünas. Then turn right towards Alp Clünas. At the reservoir, keep left and walk under the lifts. Again briefly uphill to the right, then we leave the ski area to the left through a gate. Past the small Schlivera hut (house no. 175), the trail winds beautifully along the edge of the slope to Alp Clünas at 2444m.

Shortly afterwards you can see the church tower of Ftan in the valley. The trail continues towards Alp Laret. Cross a mountain stream and pass avalanche barriers. At the signpost turn left to the viewpoint Muot da l'Hom across the marshy meadows to the summit cross. Return the same way until you see a small hut. Go straight on across the meadow towards the hut. Here we meet the hiking trail again, continue left to Alp Laret. The path now descends steeply in places (be careful if it is wet). Below a drinking trough, cross a small cutting, then the path is visible again and also Alp Laret. Go through the turnstile to the alp. On a wide forest path downhill to the right, then left towards Ftan on a natural path out of the side valley.

At a clearing we come across a signpost towards Ftan. Keep to the right at the next junction. Attention, now we are also on the Trottinet track. But after a few metres the path turns right. Follow the signposts, pass under the chairlift and continue towards Ftan. Pass the ticket office of the chairlift, then take the stairs and the road downhill to the village. The path continues to the left in the direction of Scuol. It takes a little more than an hour. Always keep straight on the National Park Panorama Trail. At the fountain, keep right and follow the Panorama Trail. Tarasp Castle is enthroned on the hillside opposite. Caution: At the signpost, do not continue straight on along the wide forest path, but turn slightly right and follow a path downhill directly under the cable car to the valley station of the mountain railway.
