The healing power of nature.
Health forests project
Effect.
Influence of forests on us humans
Spending time in the forest has been proven to have a positive effect on health and well-being. Among other things, they lead to a reduction in stress hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol, have a positive effect on heart rate and blood pressure and stimulate the production of killer cells, thereby improving the immune system. They also lead to an increased sense of well-being, less depression and anxiety. Various studies provide different explanations for this: In evolutionary terms, humans are "forest animals" who feel comfortable in this environment; terpenes, which we absorb through our skin and breathing, have a calming effect; the forest is a quiet zone without noise pollution and invites us to exercise, which is healthy. Accordingly, the forest offers ideal conditions for recreation and experience, but also for prevention and rehabilitation.
Health forests project explained
The aim of the project is to show people that the forest is not only a beautiful place, but also contributes to our well-being. Mindful time spent in nature can have positive effects on health at any time of year.
Offers
Workshops and free taster sessions on the five senses (sight, touch, smell, taste and hearing) could be offered in the forest. For example, how to cook with edible plants, distil the scent essence of the forest, meditation or even yoga in the forest. The activities would not only be beneficial to health, but also fun.
Next steps
Now that the basic ideas for the "Health Forests" project have been finalised, there are further exciting steps ahead to bring the offer to life.
